If you want to install the app from the Google Play store, but have the manually installed version of the app, you will need to ensure that you remove this before installing the Google Play version.  As you will have installed the previous app from outside Google Play, you will need to delete the apps data and the steps below explain how this is done.  This will be a one time only process as the app will automatically update from the Google Play store once you install it from there.

To clear an app's data and uninstall:

  • Open your device's Settings app.
  • Tap Apps & notifications.
  • Tap See all apps and then the app and then Storage.
  • Tap Clear data or Clear cache. (If you don't see "Clear data," tap Manage space.)
  • Tap Uninstall
